After a long discussion about when we wanted to get married, we finally decided on the day after tomorrow. It was a little quick for me, but I wanted to be his wife as soon as I could. I was supposed to be on bed rest, but I promised Jared I would take it easy. After finally agreeing with me, him and Shannon headed into town to make some arrangements.
While they were gone, I called my parents to tell them the news. They didn’t like it at all, but they congratulated us anyways. I wanted them to be there, but they thought it was best if they just wait until the baby was born.
After disconnecting the call, Paige came running through the room and landed beside me on the couch. “I’m going to throw you a bachelorette party!” she said with an evil grin on her face.
“Eh, I really don’t know if that’s a good idea.” I said doubtfully. A bachelorette party was the last thing I wanted.
“Well you’re getting one if you like it or not, you don’t have to do anything, just sit around and enjoy it.” I nodded in agreement, because I didn’t have the energy to protest her idea.
The eveningĀ passed quickly, the guys came back from the city and we all ordered take out. A night in with all of the people I cared about was perfect and exactly what I needed.
“You guys thinking about having a bachelor party?” Paige asked looking at the guys out of the corner of her eye. Looking back and forth at one another, they finally directed their attention to me in approval.
“What? I don’t care if you have a bachelor party!” I told Jared who in return placed a kiss on my lips in excitement.
After we finished up eating, we moved into the living room, to spend the night watching movies. I took my place in Jared’s arms and we watched movies until we couldn’t keep our eyes open any longer.
______
Jared’s POV
I woke up with a burst of energy. I looked over to see Jana’s side of the bed empty. Throwing on some clothes I went in search of my fiance. I looked everywhere, outside, by the pool, Shannon’s room, she was nowhere to be found. The cars were in the driveway so I knew she was somewhere. As I headed back into the house I realized I didn’t look at the one place I should’ve looked first.
Placing a small knock on the door, I heard her soft voice, telling me to come in. I peeked around the door, there she sat, beautiful as ever, sitting in the rocking chair in the middle of the nursery.
“What are ya doing?” I asked stepping completely through the doorway.
“Ahh, nothing, just a little us time ya know.” she softly said as she looked down at our growing baby.
“Well, I don’t want to bother you, I’ll leave ya alone. I’ll be in the studio if you need me” I said. I planned on spending the day with her before me and Shannon left for our bachelor party this evening, but if she wanted to be left alone, the studio was the place I’d be.
“Jared?” she said as I was about to exit the room. Turning around to face her she continued, “I’m not sorry I wrote that letter, ya know. I am sorry however, that you are having to go through this. I know it must be hard for you.”
I walked over to her and lifted her chin up so that I could look into her eyes, that I loved so much. “You don’t have to be sorry for anything. I was a dick, and you have every right to do whatever you want for our baby and that means writing a note if you want.” I told her as she remained expressionless.
“Thank you” she said as I took a step back to look around the room.
“Jared, ya know, maybe the whole point of me and you and every single moment that we’ve shared together has just been leading us here. Maybe you and I are meant to create the life because maybe this life is gonna change the world.”
I was speechless, I had no words. This entire time I was thinking she wasn’t taking her condition seriously, but I was wrong, that’s all she has been doing, is thinking about the possible outcome of the pregnancy. After she told me that, I left the room to retrieve something from the living room.
Quickly returning, I placed a piece of stationary paper and a pen in her lap.
“What’s this?” she asked looking at the items questioningly.
“Since I destroyed your last letter, I want you to write a new one. I have all of the faith in the world that everything will be fine, but just in case I just want you to know that I promise you I will make sure our girl will have this letter from you. She deserves to know her mom, and how amazing you are.” as I spoke those words, I seen tears streak down her rosy cheeks.
“I love you Jana. I’ll be in the studio, just come get me when you’re done.” I said as I exited the room.
